Women Who Choose the Free Market

Today, while scrolling through TikTok, I came across a conversation between two lesbian women. One of them referred to her boyfriend as her “sugar daddy” and asked him to support her financially. Her partner turned to netizens for advice, asking what to do about this situation. I was speechless after watching it. I deeply despise any woman I know who thinks of or acts as if a relationship is a tradable commodity. What matters most to me is whether someone commodifies a relationship. If a relationship is treated as a commodity, then it’s a free market—anyone can be a candidate. Why should it be me? Once I have more, I’ll naturally have every reason to trade me in for a higher-quality product with better “quality control.” What surprised me was that I had originally thought people would at least value the relationship itself more in certain contexts. But after seeing this, I realized that no matter what one’s status or social group, there are likely people who choose to measure relationships by worldly standards.
